The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia Online MARDOCHEUSmar-do-ke'-us (Mardochaios): (1) One of the Jewish leaders who accompanied Zerubbabel on the return from Babylon to Judah (1 Esdras 5:8, where it stands for "Mordecai" of Ezra 2:2 and Nehemiah 7:7). (2) Another form of Mordecai, the uncle of Esther (Additions to Esther 10:3; 11:2,12; 12:1,4 ff; 16:13).
